Liposuction is used to remove resistant pockets of fat, most commonly after a significant amount of weight loss. It is not recommended to use liposuction to bulk remove fat from the body as liposuction is more effective in eliminating the pockets of fat that just will not go away with diet or exercise.
Liposuction is done right here in our office under local anesthesia, and we primarily use two devices during the treatment. The first is a precise laser that melts the fat so we can use tiny tubes to remove the fat from your body to give better cosmetic results. The second is a power-assisted liposuction device that resembles a heavy-duty toothbrush.
This device quickly moves and shakes the tube that is used to remove the fat which allows us to gently remove the fat rather than pulling it out with a lot of force. A common side effect of liposuction is saggy skin, but with our devices and techniques, we can reduce the amount of post-procedure bruising you experience while providing a better look and feel to the treated area.
